"Depending on how long you pick (4 or 5 days), you will still get to visit Salkantay summit, Lake Humantay and the stunning views throughout the trek."

Benefits of a tour guide for Salkantay Trek Peru

"Due to the altitude, having a guide is really important. Knowing there is someone with experience to guide you along makes you feel at ease. Bonus - the chef will make fun lunches like this!"

Must pack items for Salkantay Trek Peru

"Layers and lots of them! Depending on what time of the year you go, it can get very cold at night and when hiking. Having layers means you can strip down when hiking so you don't get too hot or cold."

What do you love most about Machu Picchu?

"Explore one of the best sights in all of South America – Machu Picchu is one of the seven wonders of the modern world."

How did I get there?

"I took the train from Wanchaq (Cusco) to Aguas Caliente. I enjoyed the natural scenery as I journeyed through the lush valleys and past rugged peaks, following the course of the Urubamba River."

Benefits of a tour guide for Machu Picchu

"A lot of solo travellers just like me who showed up at the entrance without a guide. Don’t be shy and make friends and hire a guide together. Guided tour lasted about 3hrs depending which circuit. "

What do you love most about Machu Picchu?

"The fascinating history, extraordinary architectural works of Incas and spectacular scenery. Machu Picchu on a clear day is breathtaking."
