Tour Overview
The North-West province allows a traveller to explore a variety of rich cultural heritage and history, combined with wonderful nature and wildlife scenery not very far from Johannesburg and the O.R. Tambo airport. This tour includes a portion of Gauteng, where we visit The Cradle of Human Kind to muse about our origins. Visit the Voortrekker Monument or the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
“At a time, several millions of years ago, the inland plain and drainage wetland underwent massive geological upheaval and the area slit into two sections, and the ground tilted to the north, forming a line of two parallel mountain ranges which stretch for some 120 kilometers, from Pretoria, through Rustenburg to the Pilanesberg. This was the birth of the Magaliesberg Mountain range, which forms a natural barrier between the lower lying Bushveld to the north, and the cooler Highveld to the South and is the “meeting point” of many a species.” ...more ...less

We pick you up at your hotel near O. R. Tambo International Airport and drive to The Cradle of Human Kind/Maropeng for a tour of a journey back in time from the start of our universe, some 14-billion years ago. We go to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, “The Volcano That Gave Birth to a Game Reserve” for a game drive where you will have opportunities to see the Big 5 in their natural habitat. We spend the rest of the day at the Sun City and Lost City Resorts. With hundreds of things to offer, you have a huge variety to do, from family fun to adrenaline adventures. Sun City has something for everyone to enjoy. We spend the night at the Cabanas, Sun City Resort. (or similar). Unlimited free access to the Valley of Waves, buffet breakfast included. (Lunch and dinner at own cost.)

Starting with a game drive through the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, we leave the reserve on our way to the Hartbeespoortdam area, where we stop over at the Monate Citrus Cellar for a taste of home-brewed mampoer spirits. You will also have the opportunity to visit AFRICAN arts and craft stores for shopping. A visit to the Voortrekker Monument or Union Buildings is followed on your way back to the O.R. Tambo Airport, or you join us on another tour with Amatungulu Tours.

An exciting day in Pilanesberg

We were welcomed by a white rhino shortly after entering the game reserve. One of the highlights was a demonstration by a herd of elephant that they are also water creatures. They entertained us with a variety of antics in the water. We were also lucky enough to see a large male lion close to the road. Pilanesberg is the ideal game reserve for photographers and every body who prefers non-stop game viewing without long intervals. The knowledge and experience of the tourguide enrich the impact of the enormous variety of game viewed in a single day.

Amazing holiday to South Africa, Highlights every day from seeing Lions , Elephants Rhinos ietc in Pilanesberg Reserve . To watching Southern Right Whales from the promenade in Hermanus breaching just 50 yards off the beach . Then going uptothe top of Table Mountain in Cape Town amazing views , the holiday is unforgettable Riviera Travel leave nothing to chance first class in every way . Wonderful safari experience

I've been on safari lots of times, but never have I seen the animals so close before. We were able to see zebras, giraffes and various antelope. It felt like walking among them. I can't imagine a better way to view wildlife up close as we did. I would recommend this tour to anyone wishing to have the same experience!
