The temple at Kom Ombo was also built at this time, under Ptolemy VI. Since this bend in the Nile was a favoured spot for crocodiles to bask in the sun and threaten locals, it is natural that the temple would be dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god. But it is unusual in having a double dedication: it also honors Haroeris, a form of the falcon-headed god Horus. tour was excellent

13-Jul-2021

The overall tour was excellent. Mostafa was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. The oasis hotel was not a good hotel. It was too far from Cairo city and the rooms weren't as clean as the other hotels. Food wasn't the best quality during the overall tour. The group felt that there was not enough time to look around at the sites, especially at the museum, Karnak temple and the Khan el khalili bazaar. The felucca experience ended up being more focussed about drinking alcohol rather than enjoying the peace and quiet on the Nile. Rather than having the entry fees in the small print, the whole group felt it would be better to have them included in the overall total cost of the tour. It felt a bit misleading as the total adds up quickly. The cost for Abu simbel didn't make sense as the price on the ticket was significantly less than £65. Travel can't cost that much per person. The Nubian dinner wasn't a good experience. It just felt like we were put in one room and given a crocodile to hold. To sum up, it was an enjoyable experience but I would have gladly paid for the entry fees before the tour so that way I could budget spending money properly and everyone in the tour felt pretty much the same way.

Egypt tour

13-Jul-2021

Having just done the Egypt tour , I have been raving about it to all my friends! Not having done a traveltalk tour before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect but have heard good things from friends. Sam has pretty much made the tour for me. He was so knowledgeable and passionate but also kept it at a level so not to overwhelm us. And he was just as much fun to talk to and really looked after us during the bus trips and on the felucca. Some of the bus rides were just long and tedious but it is what we needed to do to see so much of the country! Thanks Sam for an amazing trip and please take care of my friends when I send them your way!

trip of a lifetime

13-Jul-2021

This was a trip of a lifetime! Mo was an extremely knowledgable guide, and I couldn't have imagined doing this trip with anyone else. I feel like i know everything about Egypt now (well, almost). All the many pyramids, temples and sites we saw were amazing, and the felucca ride was one of the highlights of the trip. It was a nice relaxing day after all the sightseeing and the long bus rides. I would definitely recommend this tour. I also want to mention that we took an optional day tour to Alexandria on our last day, and that tour was less than great. We had a different tour guide, who seemed to be reading a script when reciting facts about the city. And she seemed too busy hanging out with the driver to show us the city fully. I probably wouldn't recommend the optional tour to Alexandria if all the private tour guides are like the one we had.

trip of a lifetime

absolutely fantastic tour

13-Jul-2021

An absolutely fantastic experience, my only regret about this tour is that I didn't go on to Dahab and Jordan and only did the 12 days in Egypt. The people I met were all lovely, it was a massive tour group of approximately 80 but we were split up into two groups on separate buses and rarely interacted with the other bus. I found 10 people to be a lot more manageable, although still a large group. Please note: any fellow Brits who are planning on going that this is a tour made up of almost exclusively Aussies and Kiwis so don't show up expecting a huge tour of Brits. Our tour guide Adham was amazing, he was really enthusiastic and friendly and he was very knowledgeable about all the sites we went to see. It was almost an information overload by the end of the week! It can get extremely annoying constantly being hassled by the locals, but you do get used to and for the most part just ignore them and you'll be fine. It was a bit of a shock in the mosque on the last day when we were absolutely surrounded by schoolchildren who had never seen white people before. At one point I was swarmed by about 5 kids all asking for selfies and photos with me. Overall though it was a fantastic experience and I'd definitely consider travelling with ancient egypt tours again.

absolutely fantastic tour

13-Jul-2021

I did the Egypt tour in later November, and it was everything I hoped it would be and more! As a solo female traveler, I was nervous about visiting Egypt, but from the minute I was picked up at the airport by ancient egypt tours I felt welcome and safe! Mostafa, our tour guide, was the highlight of our time. Super knowledgable, funny, and engaging with everyone in our group. I do wish there was a better outline of how much money we'd need for entry/planned meals so I could have planed better. But that all being said, this tour is great value for money and an unforgettable experience

Overall I had a great week. Mustafa was very knowledgeable and was brilliant at entertaining a big crowd for the week. My criticism is the coach was very uncomfortable for 10 hour journeys - more leg room is needed for tall people like me.
