In Ancient Egypt, the power of the god Amun of Thebes gradually increased during the early New Kingdom, and after the short persecution led by Akhenaten, it rose to its apex. In the reign of Ramesses III, more than two thirds of the property owned by the temples belonged to Amun, evidenced by the stupendous buildings at Karnak. Although badly ruined, no site in Egypt is more impressive than Karnak. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man, and represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders. The Temple of Karnak is actually three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples located about three kilometers north of Luxor, Egypt situated on 100 ha (247 acres) of land. Karnak is actually the sites modern name. Its ancient name was Ipet-isut, meaning “The Most Select (or Sacred) of Places”.

Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh. Her temple, this temple was built on three surfaces take the form of balconies, devoted primarily to the worship of the god Amun, and to perform funeral rites for the queen known as El Deir El Bahary
Then pay a visit to Valley of the Kings, was created and used from approximately 1539 BC to 1075 BC. It contains some 60 tombs, starting with Thutmose I and ending with Ramses X or XI. The official name of the site was The Great and Majestic Necropolis of the Millions of Years of the Pharaoh, Life, Strength, Health in The West of Thebes, or more usually, the Great Field. Day 5 : Sleeper Train To Cairo

Location: Luxor, Cairo

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: Overnight in Sleeping Train.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

After Breakfast, visit Valley of the kings; The west bank of Luxor had been the site of royal burials since around 2100 BC, but it was the pharaohs of the New Kingdom period (1550–1069 BC) who chose this isolated valley dominated by the pyramid-shaped mountain peak of Al Qurn (The Horn). Once called the Great Necropolis of Millions of Years of Pharaoh, or the Place of Truth, the Valley of the Kings has 63 magnificent royal tombs.

Queen Hatshepsut’s Mortuary Temple; At Deir Al Bahri, the eyes first focus on the dramatic rugged limestone cliffs that rise nearly 300m above the desert plain, only to realize that at the foot of all this immense beauty lies a monument even more extraordinary, the dazzling Temple of Hatshepsut. The almost-modern-looking temple blends in beautifully with the cliffs from which it is partly cut – a marriage made in heaven. Most of what you see has been painstakingly reconstructed.

Colossi of Memnon; The two faceless Colossi of Memnon, originally representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III, rising majestically about 18m from the plain, are the first monuments tourists see when they visit the west bank. These magnificent colossi, each cut from a single block of stone and weighing 1000 tonnes, sat at the eastern entrance to the funerary temple of Amenophis III, the largest on the west bank. Egyptologists are currently excavating the temple and their discoveries can be seen behind the colossi. After finishing the tour, return to the train station.

Enjoy a full-day tour exploring the history and culture of Egypt at the Egyptian Museum, Great Pyramids of Giza, and Great Sphinx. Then, shop for unique bargains in the historic Khan El Khalili Bazaar. An expert Egyptologist guide will be on hand at all times to offer helpful explanations of this most ancient of civilizations. Start your tour at the Egyptian Museum. Designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the museum is located in a handsome neo-classical building on Tahrir Square. Its collections exceed 120,000 masterpieces, ranging from the pre-dynastic era, to the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman periods. Undoubted highlights are the collection of rare treasures of King Tutankhamen, and the Mummies Room, which you can enter for a small extra charge. Continue to the Great Pyramids of Giza and Great Sphinx, the oldest of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, and the last still standing. Explore the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. Your guide will describe the story of their monumental construction, and tell you about their mysteries, before you explore inside one of the pyramids. Proceed to the Great Sphinx, imposingly standing in the desert sand after thousands of years. Admire the colossal structure, before moving to the Valley Temple of the Pyramid of Cephren. Drive back to central Cairo and end your day at the lively Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Master the art of bargaining for great prices on fine brass ware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, and antiques. Lunch is included in this tour at local restaurant, but beverages are not included. The private tour includes the entry fees for the Giza Pyramids and Egyptian Museum. There is a possibility to ride a camel, visit inside the pyramids and see the Mummies room at the museum, but please note that this would be subject to an extra charge.

This tour was awesome. We were meet at the airport by Mohammed(he was holding a sign with my name on it). He took to a waiting van driven by John(a very safe and courteous driver). Mohammed checked us into our hotel. For the next two days these two gentlemen showed us all the sites and treated us like family. I was pressed by Mohammed's vast knowledge of Ancient Egypt and his knowledge of Cairo and the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this tour and I would ask for Mohamed by name. Ten stars across the board!!

20-Dec-2019

We were a group of 7 girls on a yearly girls trip who didn't know much about Egypt, but all of this changed after four days with our knowledgable tour guide, Mohammed! We are now leaving the trip with so much knowledge about the culture and history of this county. Mohammed was also very timely and patient with our group. He taught us everything from haggling for our souvenir to learning about the mummies and the kings of Egypt! Of course, we love taking pictures, so Mohammed also took us to wonderful pictures and instagram worthy spots! Most importantly, we felt so safe the entire time! I would highly recommend both Ancient Egypt tours and Mohammed!

I travelled with Mohammed in Cairo and Alexandria for 4 days. I booked my own accommodation. The tour was nice and Mohammed was knowledgable and had good relations overall with most of the people we met. The food options provided by the guide in Alexandria was awesome, but I did not like the restaurant in Cairo. Overall nice experience and if I will have the opportunity then I will travel with him again. The driver Ahmed was also nice and the car used for Transport was Hyundai Elantra which was nice too. We had a good time, and we also visited mall of Egypt which was very huge but there was limited sale. Sale starts in Feb. I would rate it 4.5 out of 5
