Amman & Jerash City Tours (B)
Today begins with a tour of Jordan's capital city. Amman is rich in history dating back many millennia. See the Citadel - the former home of the ancient Temple of Hercules, The Umayyad Palace, and the Byzantine Church before we make our way to the 6000-seater Roman theatre. The ancient theatre is still in use today, playing host to numerous cultural events.
From Amman, we travel to Jerash - one of the world's most well-preserved Roman architecture sites outside of Italy. Hidden away from the world underneath sand for centuries, archaeological work over the past 70 years has revealed that Jerash was a fine example of Roman urbanism, with paved and colonnaded streets, hilltop temples, impressive theatres, public squares and plazas. Overnight in Amman.
Day 3: Amman - Petra, Jordan
Location: Petra
Accommodation Name: hotel
Meals Included: Breakfast
Transfer to Petra (B)
Leave Amman with a scenic drive along the King’s Highway to Petra, cross deep Wadis, olive groves and remote rural villages. On your way you’ll see the Roman mosaics at Madaba and visit Kerak Castle, one in a chain of Crusader fortresses built across Jordan in the 12th century. Overnight in Petra.
Note: This evening, for an extra cost, you can book an optional Petra by Candlelight tour.
Day 4: Petra, Jordan
Location: Petra
Accommodation Name: Bedouin camp
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner
Today we embark on a journey to Petra, the ancient Nabataean capital, later annexed by Rome in 106 AD. Petrad, forgotten until Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt rediscovered it in 1812, lies amidst the rugged terrain of the Wadi Aruba desert, accessible via the narrow Siq gorge. Here, the Nabataeans chiseled remarkable structures into the colorful sandstone cliffs, forming one of Jordan's premier tourist destinations.
Our day includes a 2-3 hour guided tour followed by independent exploration. We enter via the Siq, a narrow passage walled by towering cliffs, spotting ancient water channels along the way. As we emerge, the iconic Khazneh or Treasury looms into view, with our guide discussing the intricacies and spiritual significance of Petra's architecture.
Beyond the Treasury, explore tombs, a Roman amphitheater, and colonnaded streets. In your free time, you can climb to the 'Monastery,' offering stunning views of the Wadi Aruba desert and Jordan Valley, or visit the High Place of Sacrifice. This venture is physically demanding yet highly rewarding.
The day's walks range from a minimum 3km trek through the Siq to extended hikes of over 8km. Horse-drawn carriages are available through the Siq for those needing assistance (approx. 20 JD / USD 28).
In the afternoon, we depart for Wadi Rum, where we'll be greeted by Bedouin hosts at a camp set against stunning desert backdrops. Here, we will relax, dine on traditional Jordanian cuisine, and spend the evening stargazing.
Day 5: Petra - Amman, Jordan
Location: Wadi Rum
Accommodation Name: hotel

Wadi Rum 4WD Tour & Dead Sea Visit (B)
We start the day exploring the beautiful desert and mountain scenery of Wadi Rum. We'll take a jeep safari through the beautiful desert scenery, seeing more of the sheer cliffs and bizarre rock formations. Keep an eye out for the copper-coloured 'jebels', the region's iconic mesmerising rock formations.
Next we'll head north towards the Dead Sea, one of the planet's most spectacular destinations. Not only is it the lowest point on earth at 400 metres below sea level, it's also considered to be one of the world's most spiritual landscapes, filled with dramatic, natural wonders. Float in this dense, rich, cocktail of salts and minerals for a truly unforgettable experience.
We will finish the day back at our hotel in Amman.
