The goals of the volunteer program are to support children in their daily schoolwork, offer additional activities through sports and hobbies, and help maintain and build community homes and structures.

What is the daily schedule like during the school volunteering days?
Classes start at 8:00 am and finish at 4:00 pm with a break for tea from 10:30-11:00 am and lunch from 12:45-2:00 pm. Each lesson lasts approximately 45 minutes.

What can I do during my free time in the village?
During your free time, you can spend time in the village to learn about the local lifestyle and unique traditions. You can also take an optional nature walk with a local guide or spend an afternoon at a neighboring lodge where you can swim and have a meal at the restaurant (at an extra cost).

What wildlife can I expect to see during the safaris in Masai Mara?
During the safaris, you can expect to see a variety of wildlife including lions, buffalo, black rhino, hippopotamus, leopard, cheetah, common zebra, Coke's hartebeest, white-bearded gnu, oribi, warthog, and Thomson's and Grant's gazelles. The bird life in Mara is also very profuse.

What cultural experiences are included in the tour?
The tour includes opportunities to visit the Masai village to witness their singing and dancing, which are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. You will also go on a nature walk with a Masai naturalist guide to learn about herbs used as medication among the Masai. Additionally, you will have a campfire experience with entertainment from the village people and hear stories from the village chief about their culture and traditions.

Is there an age limit?
No! Most of our bamba travellers fall between the ages of 18 - 35, but everyone is young at heart and welcome to come experience the world with us! If you are between the ages of 18 and 118, we invite you to travel with bamba and have the time of your life! Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?
Most of our trips cater to the adventurous independent traveller. In fact, many of our travellers arrive on their own and quickly find that they easily meet like-minded people along the way at their hostels, on transportation, or during activities.

Do I need travel insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for your trip, especially when travelling in developing countries. Bamba does not include travel insurance of any type.Your current medical insurance may cover part of your trip, so it is important for you to become familiar with your current coverage. We recommend purchasing additional travel insurance that provides coverage for medical emergencies, emergency evacuation and repatriation, lost or stolen items and unforeseen cancellations. If you plan to participate in activities such as white-water rafting, trekking, sand-buggy rides, etc please make sure they are included in your policy.
