Day 2: Islamabad - Skardu - Khaplu, Pakistan

Embark on a thrilling one-hour scenic flight from Islamabad to Skardu, where the majestic landscapes of Baltistan await. Upon landing, we'll embark on a picturesque drive through the captivating Ghanche district, passing quaint villages en route to Yugo village. Along the way, we'll pause at breathtaking viewpoints like Thorgo Pari and the confluence of the Shayok and Indus Rivers for memorable photo opportunities.
Indulge in a traditional lunch in Yugo village before choosing between two optional activities: a scenic trek to Kharfaq Lake, offering five hours of exploration amidst pristine nature, or a cultural walk through Yugo village streets to immerse yourself in local life and connect with the welcoming locals.
In the late afternoon, we'll continue our journey to Khaplu, where you'll check into your hotel. Today, we'll immerse ourselves in the enchanting beauty of Skardu, starting with a visit to the idyllic Shangri-La resort (optional boating).
We'll then journey to Upper Kachura, where a leisurely walk through local villages, fields, and orchards leads us to the serene Upper Kachura Lake. Here, you'll have ample free time to explore the area, perhaps indulging in a boat ride amidst the tranquil waters.
Afterwards, we'll drive to Soq Valley for a relaxing session of fishing and a delightful lunch amidst nature's splendor.
Returning to Skardu, we'll embark on a scenic hike to Nansoq village, the first organic village of Baltistan, with just 11 homes and 92 inhabitants. Delve into the peaceful ambiance of this centuries-old settlement, which has hosted esteemed visitors like King Charles and Prince Agha Khan IV.
Following our exploration, we'll enjoy leisure time with a local host family before hiking back to Skardu. Before concluding our day, we'll visit Skardu Bazaar for a spot of shopping, where you can browse for local handicrafts, jewelry, carpets, and more. Finally, we'll return to Shigar for a restful overnight stay, reflecting on the day's unforgettable experiences.
Day 6: Shigar - Deosai - Astore - Gilgit, Pakistan

Embark on a scenic drive from Shigar to Gilgit via the awe-inspiring Deosai Plains, renowned as the world's second-highest plateau. Along the way, we'll visit notable landmarks including Manthal rock Buddha, the serene Sadpara Lake, the majestic Ali Malik top, and the pristine Bara Pani and Sheosar Lake, nestled at an elevation of 4114 meters.

Indulge in a traditional lunch at Kha Basi Café, a charming establishment owned by Serena Hotels and operated by local women. Afterward, venture to the historic Altit Fort, dating back 900 years, and visit the nearby music school, where local children learn and perform traditional melodies.

Explore fruit orchards, stroll through quaint streets, and engage with locals, including artisans and historians, who will share fascinating stories about the village's heritage.
Indulge in a traditional lunch prepared by your host family and partake in optional meditation or yoga sessions, immersing yourself in the peaceful ambiance of the village.

In the event of flight delays due to weather conditions, we'll adapt our plans accordingly. If unable to fly, we'll embark on a scenic road journey to Islamabad.
Alternatively, if the weather permits, we'll enjoy sightseeing in the capital city. Your tour leader will provide guidance on available options, which may include a fascinating excursion to the Taxila museum and archaeological sites, offering insights into the region's rich history and heritage.

Is there an age limit?
No! Most of our bamba travellers fall between the ages of 18 - 35, but everyone is young at heart and welcome to come experience the world with us! If you are between the ages of 18 and 118, we invite you to travel with bamba and have the time of your life! Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?
Most of our trips cater to the adventurous independent traveller. In fact, many of our travellers arrive on their own and quickly find that they easily meet like-minded people along the way at their hostels, on transportation, or during activities.

Do I need travel insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for your trip, especially when travelling in developing countries. Bamba does not include travel insurance of any type.Your current medical insurance may cover part of your trip, so it is important for you to become familiar with your current coverage.
