This nine-day tour of Turkey explores the country's rich history and diverse landscapes, beginning in the vibrant city of Istanbul. The first day allows travellers to settle in before a welcome meeting. The tour then explores Istanbul's iconic landmarks, including the Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Hippodrome, with an optional Bosphorus cruise in the afternoon. The following two days are spent in Cappadocia, taking in the unique "fairy chimney" rock formations, the Goreme Open Air Museum with its Byzantine frescoes, and an underground city. Visits to Pigeon Valley, Red Valley, Cavu?in village, and Avanos, known for its pottery, are also included, along with an optional Turkish folklore evening.
The tour then journeys to more historically significant sites. A drive to Adiyaman culminates in a breathtaking sunset view from Mount Nemrut, home to the ancient tombs and colossal statues of the Kingdom of Commagene. We then head to the ?anl?urfa region, with visits to the Ataturk Dam, the historic town of Harran with its mud-brick houses, and the sacred Pools of Abraham. A highlight of this portion of the trip is an exploration of Gobeklitepe, the world's oldest known monumental structure, a site that has revolutionised our understanding of early human history. The Haleplibahce Mosaic Museum, K?z?lkoyun Necropolis, and the ?anl?urfa Archaeology Museum are also visited.
The final full day takes the group to Gaziantep, where a boat trip on the Euphrates offers a glimpse of the partially submerged ancient city of Halfeti. The day concludes with a visit to the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, showcasing stunning Roman-era mosaics rescued from the submerged city of Zeugma, followed by a flight back to Istanbul. The tour concludes with free time in Istanbul before airport transfers for departure.

Upon arrival our staff will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in the centre of Istanbul for the start of your trip. Our day begins with a fascinating journey into the heart of Ottoman history at the magnificent Topkapi Palace. Following breakfast, we'll transfer to the airport for our flight to Cappadocia. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your local guide, ready to unveil the captivating wonders of this unique region. After breakfast, we set off on a scenic journey towards ?anl?urfa, often simply called Urfa. Our route will take us past the impressive Atatürk Dam, a significant feat of engineering and a vital source of hydroelectric power for the region. We'll also make a stop at the historic town of Harran, a place steeped in ancient history. Harran is renowned for its distinctive mud-brick houses, constructed in a unique conical style, and its well-preserved ancient city walls, offering a glimpse into its past glory. Upon arrival in ?anl?urfa, a city of profound religious importance, we'll delve into its rich history and spiritual significance. Is travel insurance compulsory?
Yes! Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our tours and needs to cover personal accident & liability, medical expenses and repatriation, travel delay & abandonment. We also strongly recommend that you take out cover against cancellation and lost/stolen baggage. Personal medical insurance does not normally provide sufficient cover and is generally not suitable for travel on our tours. You will not be able to join your tour if you have not provided us with details of your insurance or if you arrive without cover in place (no refunds will be due in this event).

What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?
You are always able to change your travel date. However, some charges may apply depending on how long before your departure you make the change. Our flexible booking conditions and reduced charges will apply if you are changing date because of a Covid-19 reason or because your government is advising against travel to your destination. Can I transfer my booking to someone else?
Customers may transfer their booking or any Credit on File to another person who satisfies all the relevant conditions to the tour, provided that we are notified not less than 7 days before departure, and the transferee agrees to these booking conditions and all other terms of the contract between us. The Client and new booker are jointly and severally responsible for any outstanding payments and a transfer administration fee of GBP50 / USD75 / CAD100 / AUD100 / NZD100 / EUR75 / ZAR1000 / INR5000 or GBP100 / USD150 / CAD200 / AUD200 / NZD200 / EUR150 / ZAR2000 / INR10,000 if the transfer is made less than 60 days before departure. Important Note: Certain arrangements may not be amended or transferred after they have been confirmed (for example flight tickets, Gorilla Permits) and any alteration could incur a cancellation and rebooking charge of up to 100% of that part of the arrangements.
