Today will be spent tracking the world-famous mountain gorillas. The gorillas we are allowed to track belong to either one of ten habituated family groups.
An early breakfast and you're off to the park headquarters at Kinigi to register and be allocated your gorilla family for today. Once this is done, you set out by vehicle to the start of your gorilla safari. The gorillas are by no means tame and are completely wild animals. However, experienced guides will accompany you on your gorilla tracking, many of whom have been involved in the habituation process themselves. The guides will use their knowledge of the gorillas' habits and information from the previous day to locate the group's whereabouts. Tracking the gorillas can take anything from 4-8 hours in lush green, steep, muddy, terrain! It is, however, the experience of a lifetime... Upon sighting the gorillas, you stay with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily lives feeding, playing, resting, and raising their young. Afterward, drive back to your lodge for lunch and the remainder of the day at leisure.
The tracking distance is 50 to 100 kilometers. The travel time is variable.

We loved our safari with...

09-Sep-2024

We loved our safari with GoExplore Safaris. Brian, the owner, put together a great itineary. Our first driver in Tanzania, Stanley, was fantastic. He was patient, kind and knowledgable. We always felt safe and we learned and saw so much with him. The Serengetti was everything we hoped it would be. After a few days in Tanzania, we crossed into Kenya and joined our next guide, Joseph. Joseph was equally amazing. We enjoyed his company he assured our time in Kenya was memorable. We saw so much in Maasai Mara thanks to his expertise. On the Uganda side, we met our lovely guide, Rachel. We loved learning about life in Uganda from Rachel. She taught us a lot about the local customs, food and way of life. She has a great eye and made sure we saw lots of wildlife during our long hours in the car moving from one location to the next. We loved our time in Uganda and made memories to last a life time gorilla & chimp trekking. The only suggestions that may have made this trip better would be 1. an option to upgrade hotels for an additional cost (most hotels were more than fine but it would have been nice to upgrade if different/better accomodations were available), and 2. An option to fly between some locations as we spent a lot of time in the car (I will say the drive was beautiful, despite some roads not being great and we saw sooo much more of Africa than we ever have before flying in bush planes). We booked this late and during busy season and we are absolutely satisfied with our experience. Thank you Brian, Rachel, Stanley, Percius and Joseph for crossing this incredible adventure off our bucketlist. :)

I cant say much on our previous safari but how amazingly Brian is at his job he organized everything as stated in the our itinerary and he was very punctual in picking us up at the airport we stayed in a very nice hotel in kampala later the following morning drove to bwindi forest for the gorillas passing through beautiful highlands of the country Uganda is so beautiful and the people are so friendly we don't think this was going to be much fun. we tracked the gorillas in bwindi and these were so good we saw the young ones play as well and they were the best highlight of the safari our lodges were so good even depending on the amount we paid goexplore we never expected this kind of services but everything went well as we were on our safari thank you so much Brian for the great gorilla holiday me and my wife shall definitely recommend you to colleagues

Me and my friends had...

10-Oct-2018

Me and my friends had a work program in Kenya and so later we decided to take a trip around before we flew back home in Australia, after our program for 5 days trip in lake Nakuru and Masai Mara so we made a search around checked on trip adviser and we found go explore with 5 stars around, Brenda was responding to our emails always we stayed at Sarova lion hill game lodge this is a very nice place with great staff and plenty of food in Nakuru the staff were always helpful, I saw lions after our guide Charles had told us lions are rare in this place so it was so fortunate for us. We slept at Hammerkop in Masai mara one night and ngerede in the wild which is a very beautiful lodge just overlooking the plains of Masai Mara we were able to see the big five on this short trip thanks to the team for organizing this great short trip.

I strongly recommend you join...

11-Jan-2018

I strongly recommend you join not only gorilla trekking but also habitation experience at Uganda. I joined a trekking at Rwanda and a habitation in Uganda. If you join the latter, you will watch about a half day with a gorilla family and amazing time. As a gorilla family in Uganda is not fully accustomed with mankind (compared to those in Rwanda), you can watch real wild life of them. Thank you to the team at GoExplore safaris
