After breakfast, the cruise will depart from Porto heading towards Pinhão, Port wine capital of Portugal. Today you will have the opportunity to take advantage of the hours of navigation to admire the breathtaking views offered by the Douro Valley. In the afternoon, arrive in Pinhão, a town considered the heart of the Douro Designation of Origin Region, where many of the Port wine-producing estates are located. Some of these estates also offer accommodations in the form of rural tourism. Also worth mentioning is the railway station building, constructed at the end of the nineteenth century, whose interior is entirely covered with tile panels. Enjoy a delightful dinner on board as you relax and take in the views.

Day 4: Pocinho - Vega De Terrón (B/L/D)

In the morning enjoy your breakfast as your ship docks at Pocinho, a small town located in northern Portugal known for being the starting point of the Douro Line railway. What makes this route unique is that the rails and sleepers are placed just a few meters from the riverbank. In the afternoon, arrive at the Vega de Terrón pier, situated where the Águeda River flows into the Douro. The former border pier was transformed into a river pier at the end of the 19th century and was rebuilt at the close of the 20th century for tourist and commercial purposes. The pier belongs to the municipality of La Fregeneda in the province of Salamanca and is in the highly visited Arribes del Duero Natural Park. La Fregeneda was the last railway station before the border with the railway linking the town of Boadilla to the Portuguese town of Barca d'Alva. From this point, travelers could reach Porto and the Atlantic through the railway hub in Pocinho. Today, this route is closed and forms part of the Arlibes Greenway. After breakfast, you will reach Barca d'Alva a picturesque village served as the point where the railway lines connecting Salamanca with Porto met for a century. An iron bridge over the Águeda River allowed the passage of the railway between the two countries, linking this station with the Salamanca station of La Fregeneda. Barca d'Alva is located within the Douro International Natural Park with its impressive gorges of the Douro and Águeda rivers which serve as a natural border between Spain and Portugal. In the morning, enjoy your breakfast on board as the ship sails towards Régua, taking in the breathtaking views of the Douro Valley. At noon, stop again in Pinhão to visit some of the best wineries in the region. In the early afternoon, you will arrive in Régua where in 1756, the Royal General Company of Agriculture of the Vineyards of the Douro was founded, establishing the first wine-producing region in the world with a designation of origin. The vineyards, cultivated on terraces along the riverbanks offer stunning panoramas that can be admired from various viewpoints including those at San Leonardo in Galafura and San António do Loureiro. In the surrounding area, the Caldas de Moledo thermal resort located on the right bank of the Douro has its own jetty and is a wonderful place for a relaxing holiday.
