Day 1 : Arrive And Meet The Group

Hola San José! As soon as you step off the plane, the warm tropical air will greet you. We’ll pick you up from the airport and take you to your accommodation, where you can unwind and settle in. Later, you'll have the chance to meet your group and start getting excited for the incredible adventures that lie ahead.
Day 2 : San José Walking Tour & Travel To La Fortuna

Today, we dive into the rich culture and history of San José and Costa Rica with a walking tour of the city. Our local guide will highlight the intriguing architecture and historical landmarks around every corner. Next, we’ll leave the city behind and journey to La Fortuna, with a stop at the Ox Cart Museum along the way. These beautifully decorated carts were essential to Costa Rican farm life and have become a national symbol. Upon arriving in La Fortuna, the gateway to Costa Rica’s stunning wilderness, you’ll be struck by the majestic Arenal Volcano that dominates the skyline. Once a farming community, this charming town is renowned for its geothermal activity and wellness retreats nestled in the jungle. It’s time to embrace the pura vida spirit!
Day 3 : Volcano Hike & Night Jungle Walk

An epic outdoor adventure awaits us as we trek into the jungle to experience the Arenal Volcano in all its glory. We’ll explore a variety of trails, each offering breathtaking views of the volcano and its lava fields. As evening falls and the sun sets, a whole new world of wildlife emerges. We'll venture into the jungle after dark to discover its nocturnal wonders. But rest assured, we’ll be guided safely by an enthusiastic expert who will share fascinating local insights and secrets along the way.
Day 4 : Local Family Farm Visit & Natural Hot Springs

This morning, we’ll visit a local family who has lived in La Fortuna for generations. They’ll guide us around their farm, where we may spot some wildlife that shares their home. You’ll learn about the harvesting of local fruits and vegetables, and have the chance to taste some exceptionally sweet fruits. The family will also demonstrate how to prepare a traditional Casado lunch, accompanied by freshly brewed coffee from their own farm. This afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to relax in natural hot springs, renowned for their healing properties due to the volcanic mineral waters. It will feel like stepping into a fairytale oasis—an ideal way to unwind and rejuvenate.
Day 5 : Río Celeste & Travel To Rincon De La Vieja

Our journey continues as we depart from La Fortuna, first making a stop at a traditional Maleku house. The Maleku are one of Costa Rica's indigenous peoples, and this visit offers a rare opportunity to learn about their traditional way of life. Next, we’ll head to the renowned Río Celeste National Park. The water here, including the stunning cascading waterfall, is a brilliant diamond blue—an absolutely mesmerizing sight. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Rincon de la Vieja, a lesser-known gem that offers a peaceful retreat from the crowds and a chance to reconnect with nature. We’ll check into our jungle accommodation and soak in the incredible sounds of the natural surroundings.
Day 6 : Rincon De La Vieja National Park

Prepare your hiking shoes for an adventure along jungle trails as we explore the incredible biodiversity of Costa Rica in Rincon de la Vieja National Park. This morning, we’ll trek through the park’s trails, visiting volcanic vents and mud pits, and discovering its rich array of wildlife, which includes over 300 species of birds, monkeys, reptiles, and possibly even a jaguar! This afternoon, you can choose to relax by the hotel pool, soaking in the tranquil sounds of the jungle. For those craving a thrill, you’ll have the option to soar through the forest canopy on a ziplining adventure, gliding above the misty treetops and descending into the mountain.
Day 7 : Pottery Demo & Arrive To Samara

Our journey continues as we head towards Samara. Along the way, we’ll stop in Liberia for lunch and take a brief walking tour to experience a more local side of Costa Rica. Our next stop is a visit to a village renowned for its traditional pottery, a craft that remains a vibrant part of local life. We’ll have the opportunity to watch a demonstration of pottery-making at a local family's home. As we approach our final destination, you can start to unwind. This coastal town, with its hip and relaxed vibe, offers beautiful sandy beaches, sun-drenched skies, and swaying palms. Over the next few nights, you’ll have ample time to soak in the idyllic scenery and enjoy some beach volleyball. It’s time to switch into holiday mode!
Day 8 : Beach Hopping Tour

Pack your beach towel and sunscreen - we're set to explore the stunning coastline of Guanacaste today. We’ll visit a few neighbouring beaches that many consider among the most beautiful in Costa Rica - picture palm trees, white sand, crystal-clear blue waters and untouched beauty. You’ll have the entire day to enjoy yourself—whether it's playing football, lounging with a good book, snorkelling among coral reefs, or playing music as the sun sets. There's ample time for sunbathing too, of course. Whatever your ideal beach day looks like, we’re here to make it happen.
Day 9 : Paradise In Samara

Today is a free day entirely dedicated to exploring all that Samara has to offer —thank us later! Whether you're in the mood for a relaxing yoga session or something more active like a surf lesson or sea kayaking with snorkelling, there's an activity to suit your interests. Of course, simply lounging by the sea with a cold drink and soaking up the sun is always a great option. Enjoy and make the most of your holiday!
Day 10 : Travel To Esterillos & Sunset Drinks

This morning, we head south to Esterillos, a serene beachside haven renowned for its surfing and tranquil atmosphere. It’s quite common to have this expansive beach almost to ourselves. This charming town and its beach are often overlooked by tourists, offering a perfect opportunity to savour the stunning Costa Rican coastline away from the crowds. After checking into our hotel, you'll have the afternoon to explore the quaint local town and embrace the leisurely pace of Costa Rican life. We'll gather for sunset drinks and enjoy the relaxed ambiance together.
Day 11 : Manuel Antonio National Park & Beaches

Today, we set our sights on the spectacular Manuel Antonio National Park, so keep your camera ready! It's no surprise that this is Costa Rica’s most visited national park, as you'll discover during our exploration of its lush jungles and stunning beaches. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, including the famous sloths everyone loves. After our jungle adventure, we’ll head to the park’s incredible beaches for some fun in the sun. The pristine shores are truly paradise, but be on the lookout for the cheeky monkeys that share this tropical haven with us.
Day 12 : Travel To San José, Crocodiles & Farewell Dinner

Leaving the coast behind, we head back to San José, where our journey began. On the way, we’ll make a stop at the Crocodile Bridge, offering a fantastic vantage point to observe these impressive prehistoric creatures. This evening, we’ll gather for a farewell meal and drinks, toasting to our unforgettable adventure in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

Am I contributing to any charity by booking the tour?
We operate our own socially conscious initiative called Small Change that aims to protect the environment, promote cultural exchange, support local communities and protect animal welfare. We use money a portion of the money you pay for the tour to achieve or goals. We also plant 10 trees for every booking we receive.

What is the maximum age limit on Intro Travel tours?
Our trips are aimed at those aged 18 to 40’s. The majority of people that do our trips are aged 18 to 39, but we regularly have people in their 40's and occasionally 50’s travel with us who have an incredible time! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy to share your experience with people of different ages and backgrounds, you’ll fit in perfectly on any trip.

What policies are in place for Covid-19?
At INTRO we want all group members to feel safe and comfortable whilst travelling with us. As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the use of facial coverings, hand sanitisers, enhanced cleaning and disinfecting processes, as well as social distancing measures will be practised where appropriate or deemed necessary on our tours.

What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?
We offer free date changes up to 30 days before your start date. Within 30 days there may be some small fees incurred.
