Tour Overview

From the lush wetlands of the Mekong Delta to the majestic ruins of Angkor Wat, this tour provides a great overview of what Southeast Asia has to offer in terms of scenic beauty. The opportunity to take a deep dive into the unique culture, cuisine, and history of two countries in just under two weeks is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it is sure to create memories you’ll never forget. This tour is long and does require a good amount of cycling stamina, but the terrain covered is generally flat and won’t be too difficult for moderately experienced riders. Those who love travelling on the water will especially appreciate this tour, because travelling upstream on the waters of the mighty Mekong river and actually passing the border on a riverboat is quite the experience.

Day 1 : Orientation (Ho Chi Minh City)

simangthomas

Location: Ho Chi Minh City

Accommodation Name: ( Not included )

Meals Included: Dinner

No cycling

On your first day in Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon, you will meet the Mr Biker team of guides, mechanics, and drivers who will support you throughout your exciting adventure from Saigon to Cambodia.

A bike fitting is scheduled at 4 PM (Mr Biker Trung Son: 24 Street No.6, Trung Son Residence, Binh Chanh District) followed by a welcome dinner with our team.

Day 2 : Hcm - Ben Tre - Tra Vinh

Location: Trà Vinh

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: Cuu Long Hotel

Meals Included: Lunch, Dinner

Cycling distance: 70km

In the morning, riders will van transfer to a local cafe in the Mekong Delta where their fitted bikes will be waiting. After a short trip briefing at the cafe, we’ll hop on and start our adventure.

70% of today’s riding will be shaded from the Mekong sun by coconut trees. Riders will traverse numerous small canal bridges and admire the lush greenery of the area. This view of the area’s agriculture will lead to a coconut byproducts factory.

After lunch, riders will continue their adventure and watch the coconut fields give way to charming delta homes and villages. As we progress, we will continue on routes that are generally flat and paved, but there will be some opportunities to challenge ourselves on narrow sections through the coconut plantations.

We’ll end up in Tra Vinh City, where we will relax before enjoying a community dinner and an evening of exploration

Day 3 : Tra Vinh - Can Tho

Location: Cần Thơ

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: Iris Hotel Can Tho

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

Cycling distance: 80km

Whereas the first day of the journey was spent in the Coconut Kingdom, today we will see rice paddies take prominence in our landscape views.

In the morning, we will cycle a short distance to Ba Om Pond, an 800 years old Khmer architectural beauty, to see its famous seasonal lotus flower.

After that, we will spend the rest of the morning cycling through flat lands next to rice paddies and canals. This region is renowned for being the second-largest producer of rice in Vietnam.

In the afternoon, we’ll van transfer to Can Tho city, where we will take in the nightlife and rooftop views from restaurants in the city center. Be sure not to miss out on Can Tho’s well-known night markets!

Day 4 : Can Tho - Rach Gia

Location: Rạch Giá

Accommodation: Resort, Resort

Accommodation Name: Hoa Binh Rach Gia Resort

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Cycling distance: 80km

Today’s excursion will be divided into two parts: the morning on water and the afternoon on land.

Departing Can Tho, we will take a boat to explore the famous Cai Rang floating market and more of the Mekong Delta’s canal system.

After the Mekong Delta boat tour, we will head off along the river on paved and isolated roads where we will be treated to views of the region’s fruit gardens growing alongside the countryside trails.

Eventually, the forested riverside trails will give way to the same wide-open rice fields we passed through on day 3. As we ride through this area, we often are the only people within view for kilometres at a time. It is peaceful, tranquil and a great chance to meditate on the value of solitude and community.

Riders get the choice to either cycle or van transfer the remaining distance to Rach Gia City.

Day 5 : Rach Gia - Chau Doc

Location: Châu Đốc

Accommodation: Hotel

Accommodation Name: Chau Pho Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Cycling distance: 80km

After another filling and delicious local breakfast, we will transfer 60 minutes via our private shuttle to the seat of the Southern Kingdom of Vietnam as it was recognized 2000 years ago. We’ll visit a museum in the area to learn more about the history.

We’ll then set off on the 55 km journey to Tra Su National Reserve and Bird Sanctuary. The farmland along the way floods frequently, so the majority of the ride will be on raised reinforced platforms above the fields.

We’ll arrive at Tra Su in the early afternoon, when the majority of the tourists have departed. There, we’ll have the opportunity to walk along a floating bridge past vibrantly-colored algae. There will be guided boat tours available through the shaded canals of the reserve.

Lunch will be served after this relaxing experience before getting back on your bikes for a 25km segment to our overnight location in Chau Doc City.

We’ll visit a family-run silk weaving business before cycling on two islands in the Mekong River, Koh Oukatey and Koh Dach. The terrain of the islands is mostly flat and covered in lush vegetation as well as beaches. We aim to ride between 70-80km today before being transferred by van to Kampong Cham.

In the evening, you’ll visit the local village on the island of Koh Pen. You’ll visit the village, walk through the local farms, view the Buddhist monastery, and drive back to have dinner in Kampong Cham’s downtown.

For your last destination before Siem Reap, you will visit Sambor Prey Kuk Temple Complex, which consists of a hundred brick Hindu temples scattered through the forest.

Arrive in Siem Reap in the late afternoon, check in to your hotel, and be treated to dinner at a local restaurant.

We’ll then ride to Krabei Riel Village, passing the rice fields, Khmer Traditional houses, and pagodas, and finally stopping at one of the local houses to enjoy the Khmer Cooking Class with the villagers.

After lunch, we’ll continue to ride our bikes to Tone Sap Lake and embark on the local boat upon arrival. We cruise the boat slowly to Mechrey Floating Village, where riders will get to kayak through a floating village and a mangrove forest (July-January only) on the Tonle Sap Lake. You will then take the boat back to the pier and choose whether to cycle or take a van to Siem Reap, where we will organise for you a farewell dinner and goodbyes with the local team.

One of the most remarkable experiences in Vietnam.

31-Aug-22

One of the most remarkable experiences in Vietnam. The one-day trip with the Mr. Biker team was simply incredible. Meeting and understanding the people through paths and fields was a genuine joy. The flat cycle was simple to ride for 30 km, 40 km, and 50 km. It might have been farther or closer. The bikes were excellent, and the backup was ideal. A must-do excursion, and the guide was originally from the Mekong delta, so their were familiar with the area. A must do trip, punctual organized and pleasant.

With little notice and changing circumstances, Mr Biker Saigon organised a customised day trip to the Mekong for a group of 6; including 2 young kids and my parents who are in their 70s. The communication was clear and detailed with pricing and itinerary information, as well as gear list. We requested a stop at a local cacao farm which they included. Pick up was prompt and we spent the most wonderful day in the Long An province biking through villages and farms. Although we made slower progress than expected, Mickey was very patient and helpful, especially with the kids when they struggled with distances and heat. Mickey took my 9yo under his wing and helped talked all about the area with expertise. The boat trip was fantastic and Alluvia farm a fabulous ending to the day. My kids told Mickey he deserved 5 stars. They loved the awesome boat ride across the river and we all enjoyed his company.

Awesome way of exploring Vietnam

The whole trip was super well organised! See it as a food and culture trip within a bike trip. We learned a lot about the things we saw and had a brilliant time. Minh was a great guide, good energy and storytelling!

The ultimate cycling experience in Vietnam - Ha Giang MTB tour.

7-Oct-22

I recently joined the Ha Giang MTB Challenge with Mr Biker Saigon. It was a 7 days trip in the north of Vietnam. I had previously joined other day trips and also a 3 days trip on Bao Loc. They were all great, but the Ha Giang trip was something taken to the next level in all aspects. All details of the trip were carefully planned, and when we encountered any challenge along the way (due to weather or road condition, for example) there was always a plan B ready to be executed. The ride was difficult at times, with lots of climbings, challenging even to experienced cyclists. However the views of the landscapes around were stunning at all times and kept us motivated. The support crew was super helpful. Every few kms there was a stop for drinks (water, lemonade, soft drinks) and snacks or fruits. Bike mechanic was available if any issue. Mr Biker have good bikes for rental, but I had brought mine own. Needless to say, the support crew took good care of it, doing a basic clean and check ( including lubrication) at the end of each day. We had nothing to worry about, just enjoy the experience. It was much more than just a bike ride, it was an immersion in the local Vietnamese way of life and culture. We experienced visits to remote villages, and were warmly received by local residents on their houses. Mr Biker team took care of all meals ( breakfast, lunch and dinner) were we experienced a variety of local fresh and tasty food. Our riding group was a mix of nationalities and ages, and we had a lot of fun together. After every ride, we would enjoy a happy hour drink and party, before our dinner. The accommodations were very nice and comfortable, always in a different homestay along the route. It was an adventure, we got to know the real north Vietnam countryside. But all was possible due to the fantastic arrangements of the Mr. Biker Saigon team. 5 Stars to Thai Minh Hang and his team. Thank you for building this memorable trip.

Great cycling trip with the kids

8-Aug-22

We did this trip in July 2022 with our daughters (7&9 years old) and really recommend it! Bikes were right size and in good condition, we cycled through amazing scenery and stayed in unique locations but especially were very pleased with our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide Trong. Not only could he share a lot about the country but he was also very patient and flexible - for example when making a few changes to the route as it was a bit too far for our youngest. Again: great experience - get in touch with the Mr Biker team to discuss your ideas as we found they are very willing to think along and offer suggestions.

Cycling through the countryside and seeing the paddy fields and many farms up close with the peacefulness throughout the entire trip was very enjoyable. The locals are friendly, they welcome us everywhere we go not to mention the fact that 90% of the route which was around 40kms is off-road so you're certain to be safe from the traffics. Our guide was very informative and also supportive, I had a great experience that day. MrBikersaigon offers different levels for different riders' needs but for a beginner who has never been riding a lot or has never even been on a bicycle, this is a must-try.

Awesome biking experience

6-Oct-22

Ha Giang MTB 7 days Challenge - September 2022 This was the best cycling tour I have done in Vietnam so far. We couldn't hope for anything better. Thai, An and Mr Biker Saigon team took us in some amazing and breathtaking location off the beaten track. It was challenging at times but all doable and the emphasis was always on safety while still having lots of fun and discovering new culture and being able to interact with locals and share precious moments, stories, drinks and food. All was so well organised - we had varied and amazing accommodation in home stays as well as delicious food at all meals. I would recommend Mr Biker Saigon to anyone as they have the passion for cycling and a very high customer service. Thanks again for this wonderful adventure and experience which I will never forget.
