Check out our Q&As

  • Can you purchase alcohol in Egypt?

Yes, alcohol Alcohol is permitted for sale and available in Egypt, either in better hotels, Nile Cruises, higher-class restaurants and cafes, pubs and Bazaars. You will also find off-licenses as well. The Egyptian people understand drinking alcohol according to different customs and cultures. Please note, though, it is illegal to drink alcohol in the streets in Egypt.

  • Can I obtain a visa on arrival in Egypt?

Egypt visa arrival policy applies to the following countries: the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, all European Union countries, Norway, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia, Malaysia, Macedonia, Japan, South Korea, China (as of May 2018). If you are a citizen of one of these countries, you can obtain a visa with your passport information, personal information, and details about your travel plans upon arrival at an Egyptian port of entry. The visa on arrival is usually valid for 30 days.

  • Can unmarried couples stay together in Egypt?

Foreign unmarried couples can stay together in Egypt. Egyptian or Arabian unmarried couples are not allowed to stay together, as it is illegal. The same goes for an Egyptian man/foreign woman or Egyptian woman/foreign man, as it is illegal for them to stay in a hotel together.

  • What to wear when I travel to Egypt?

Clothing: Egypt's climate is dry all year round, so you won't require rainwear unless you are going to Alexandria between December and February. In winter you will need light woolen clothes with sweaters, “layers of clothing are recommended. “From December to February travelers to winter clothing is essential. In spring and autumn, a combination of both is advisable for the warm days and cool nights, so pack accordingly. From May to November, light cotton clothes are recommended People in Egypt are used to tourists visiting their countries. You are welcome to wear walking shorts and a short sleeve shirt for sightseeing excursions On board Nile cruises we recommend to dress 'smart casual' to dinner each evening. Swimsuits are absolutely fine for the swimming pools and beaches On days that you visit Holy sites (mosques and churches), you preferably wear slacks, long skirts and long sleeves. If not, they provide in the mosques something long to wear to enter the mosques Strong and comfortable closed-toe shoes are wise choices to keep your feet from sand, dust, or mud. Sandals are not good options, except for beach areas.

  • Are there any special customs I should observe whilst in Egypt?

Yes, most Egyptian customs differ from the Western customs due to the cultural and religious differences, as shown below: 1. Most women in Egypt behave conservatively with strangers. 2. Most mosques require visitors to remove their shoes before entering. 3. Use the right hand to eat and give gifts. 4. It is inept to take photos of soldiers, tanks, or any other military property.

  • Can I get a visa on arrival from other border crossings other than airports?

Regarding the conditions for obtaining a visa at border crossings and ports, they are applied in accordance with the policy for obtaining an Egyptian visa, as mentioned previously. But kindly note that in some ports, guarantee letter will be required and also permission from the tourism police, to leave the port and return and your travel agent will help you in this case by providing the guarantee letter. It is therefore possible to apply for an Egyptian visa on arrival at the border control for the countries that take the visa upon arrival However, it is strongly advised against crossing the land border as information on checkpoints that issue visas on arrival is not always up to date. Thus, applying for a visa on arrival in Egypt can be done mainly at the following international checkpoints: Cairo International Airport Hurghada International Airport St Catherine's International Airport Borg El Arab International Airport in Alexandria Sharm El Sheikh International Airport Luxor International Airport

Mahmoud Emam is a walking Google. I'm not sure if he is human, because he knows everything. He is friendly, polite, articulate, and charismatic. We were amazed by the sites and the depth of knowledge he shared. Ahmed Hamama was our driver and him and Mahmoud (our tour guide) arrived on time to begin our journey. Ahmed is a great driver who also is very polite, professional, courteous, and a pleasure to be around. I am fortunate to have chosen the right team to make this unforgettable experience of a lifetime.

Hoda of Sun Pyramids put together a magnificent 2 day package for Bedford Scuba Divers that no one else could offer as we had limited time. We toured Cairo and Luxor in two packed full days even a camel ride and enjoyed every minute. We were able to visit the sights early and great tour guides throughout. We stayed at overnight Hotel Nefertiti in Luxor and it was a lovely Egyptian surprise in Luxor, with amazing views both in the evening and in the morning. Thank you Sun Pyramids, especially Hoda.

We took 2 day Tour of Cairo and Alexandria from Port Said. It was a private tour. Sun Pyramids Tours provided excellent customer service. First, the tour coordinate Rana was very responsive and made a comfortable arrangement. The tour guide Ahmed is knowledgeable, friendly and speaks good English. The driver is very good as well. We felt safe and enjoyed the tours.

19-Jul-2024

We spent two days touring Cairo with Mahmoud Emam and are feeling so blessed to have chosen this company and experience. We went to the pyramids and rode camels, saw historical sites in Memphis and Saqqaura. Mahmoud was very knowledgeable and kind. He has so much information about so many different aspects of Egyptian history and culture and we so enjoyed our time with him. I highly recommend requesting him as your tour guide. We also did a dinner cruise on the Nile River and had shuttle service to and from the airport and had a wonderful driver as well as another tour guide named Mohab for these who we also felt very safe and comfortable with and learned a lot from. We have been so happy with our time in Egypt!!

03-Sep-2024

I used Sun Pyramids tours for all my excursions in Cairo, Luxor, and to the Red Sea. Everything was outstanding. The communication before I arrived, the arrangements for transportation, and the daily communication was spectacular. The tour guides were phenomenal and the car service was top notch. There are a lot of different touring companies you can choose from. I promise you that Sun Pyramids will not disappoint in any way.

07-Sep-2024

The service provided was worth it, both for the light show and the day tour at the pyramids. The communication for the arrangements was accurate and both Mostafa, the agent, who was very helpful and very kind and our guide to the pyramids Mohamed Abdel Monem, turned this to an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

22-Sep-2023

Our group of four enjoyed two days and two evenings of guided tours by our guides; Mustafa and Same. They had so much information to share with us for the whole duration of the tours. Same took us to many wonderful sights including pyramids of Saqqara, papyrus making, essential oil making, hand made carpets and more. The highlights were the Mohammed Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum. So much knowledge to share, so friendly and considerate. No question went unanswered. If you want a wonderful experience, I cannot recommend these guys more highly.

10-Oct-2023

I booked 08N/09D, tour with Sun Pyramids Tours. When I decided to make a tour to Egypt on my own I found out this travel company in a Google search. With the other customer recommendations I chose to travel with this agent with my family of 03 people. They handled our tour professionally and the vehicles provided were in very good quality. Overall we had a very nice experience in Egypt with the tailor made tour which was proposed by Sun Pyramids to suit our itinerary. Thanks a lot Sun Pyramids Team

30-Jul-2024

They are expensive enough, they promise 4 star hotels but the hotels are 2 stars, noisy, unmanaged and untrained staff. They won't care about the comfort the hotel may call you at midnight for any request you made at 9.30pm. Breakfast time was 7am, and i reached 7:30am, and it was finished. Customer care may call you at 1.30 am for any issue you face in the daytime. The card they gave me was full of dust as I opened the air through it all went on my face. They promised full air-conditioned cars, but they gave old less functional. The good thing was I canceled the 9 days plan on the 4th day, and they returned me about 40% payment. 1 star is for the refund. I don't recommend it.
