When to go?
This trip is available to start on any date between 1 September and 31 May.
The Sahara Desert is scorching in summer, making it too hot to trek. At night, temperatures fall dramatically—and in winter they can be freezing, however, the low winter sun creates some beautiful lighting.
The best time to book a desert tour is during the spring and autumn months when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. October still has warm day-time temperatures and very pleasant evenings. In March the desert begins to bloom and the temperatures start to rise. Be aware, though, that March and April occasionally coincide with the Sirocco wind, which can cause sudden sandstorms and poor visibility.
Please note that during Ramadan and Eid Al Adha’s festival times, many restaurants and shops will be closed, which may affect your trip experience. Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr change yearly. Ramadan 2023 begins 22 March and ends 20 April. Eid al-Adha 2023 will begin 28 June and ends 2 July. -
