Day 1 : Welcome To Australia

Location: Sydney

Immerse in a City Orientation tour, covering landmarks, Botanical Gardens, Hyde Park, and culminating at Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. As dusk falls, our coastal adventure starts, revealing the enchanting East Coast beauty.

Following our exploration of Sydney's beauty, an orientation meeting awaits. Here, we'll delve into tour specifics and optional activities in greater detail, ensuring a comprehensive experience for all.

Once the orientation meeting amps up your excitement, get ready! We've got top-notch dinner suggestions and snack spots lined up for the overnight bus journey to vibrant Byron Bay.

Day 2 : Byron Bay

Location: Byron Bay

Accommodation: Hostel

Once comfortably settled in our beachfront Byron Bay abode, we delve into the afternoon. Immerse in local history, Aboriginal culture, and marine biology through an unforgettable dolphin kayak journey to Australia’s most easterly point.

Day 3 : Byron Bay

The next morning, we rise early for a sunrise spectacle from the lighthouse. Our last Byron Bay afternoon is dedicated to immersing in the town's distinctive culture, either on foot or bike.

Day 4 : Surfers Paradise

Location: Surfers Paradise

Today, we say goodbye to Byron and journey to the renowned Surfers Paradise. On arrival, soak up the golden sands of Surfers Paradise Beach, take a leisurely city walk, and as the day transitions, dive into the vibrant entertainment scene with a thrilling bar crawl.

Day 5 : Surfers Paradise

Location: Brisbane

We travel a short distance to Brisbane, the capital of the Queensland state. We spend the afternoon exploring the city and lagoons of Brisbane’s Southbank precinct.

Day 6 : Brisbane

Location: Brisbane

Today we visit the home of the crocodile hunter, Australia Zoo!

Day 7 : Rainbow Beach

Location: Rainbow Beach

We spend today in Rainbow Beach so that we can get a safety briefing and to meet the specialised local guide will be spending the next three days with.

Day 8 : Fraser Island

Location: Fraser Island

Our next three days are spent on the world's largest sand island, Fraser Island.

Today we explore Lake McKenzie...arguably the most popular and picturesque highlight of Fraser! This afternoon we drive up the beach to our campsite.

Day 9 : Fraser Island

Location: Fraser Island

Arise in the morning for a quick breakfast before we begin our busiest day on Fraser Island and head off to see Eli creek, a beautifully clear creek perfect for a relaxing swim.

Today we will also visit the Maheno shipwreck, Indian head, and the Champagne pools.

Day 10 : Rainbow Beach

Location: Rainbow Beach

Accommodation: Hostel

Today we drive to the beginning of the Lake Wabby before we head back on the mainland.

Day 11 : Town Of 1770

Location: Agnes Water

Our next stop is the Town of 1770. This picturesque East Coast hot spot is a small but adventure packed town surrounded by rocky headlands and beautiful golden beaches.

Day 12 : Overnight Bus

Location: Seventeen Seventy

Today is yours to continue exploring 1770! Tonight we jump on an overnight bus to the home of the Whitsundays - Airlie Beach.

Day 13 : Airlie Beach

Location: Airlie Beach

This location is the gateway to the Whitsundays Islands. We spend this first day at the local lagoon and and exploring the coastline.

Day 14 : Whitsundays

Location: Whitsundays

Days 14-16 are spent sailing the Whitsundays by boat. Sights and experiences include • Whitehaven Beach & Hill Inlet Lookout • Multiple snorkelling locations • Star gazing • Bushwalks • Beach Sunsets. All meals are included whilst sailing

Day 15 : Whitsundays

Location: Whitsundays

Days 14-16 are spent sailing the Whitsundays by boat. Sights and experiences include • Whitehaven Beach & Hill Inlet Lookout • Multiple snorkelling locations • Star gazing • Bushwalks • Beach Sunsets. All meals are included whilst sailing

Day 16 : Airlie Beach

Location: Airlie Beach

Days 14-16 are spent sailing the Whitsundays by boat. Sights and experiences include • Whitehaven Beach & Hill Inlet Lookout • Multiple snorkelling locations • Star gazing • Bushwalks • Beach Sunsets. Back to Airlie Beach this evening

Day 17 : Overnight Bus

Location: Airlie Beach

After recovering from an epic three days sailing, we have a chill day before jumping on our final overnight bus to Cairns.

Day 18 : Cairns

Location: Cairns

The final stop on our adventure is at the home of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Cairns! Tonight the group will come together for a Cairns dinner.

Day 19 : Great Barrier Reef

Location: Cairns

Today we have the opportunity to spend a full day on the magnificent Great Barrier Reef with unlimited snorkelling!

Day 20 : Cairns

Location: Cairns

Today you can hang out at the popular Cairns Lagoon, learn more about Australian Indigenous culture or take on more adventure with a Skydive - Cairns has endless adventures on offer!

Day 21 : Tour Ends

Location: Cairns

Today our East Coast Adventure comes to an end and we bid farewell to our new friends and the East Coast.

    We stay in hostel accommodation during the tour. Rooms are mixed shared 6-10 bed dorms.

    Yes. We recommend one main luggage in addition to hand luggage.

    Yes. All coach transport is airconditioned

  • Travelling solo?

    Most of the people who book onto our tours are travelling solo, so you won’t be the only one! On all of our tours you’ll be travelling with like-minded people, who enjoy the comfort of a guided tour. So you may start off as strangers, but will finish as an Ultimate Family! A great reason to book a group tour is to meet new people!

  • Will I require travel insurance?

    Travel insurance is compulsory for all ULTIMATE tours. Please ensure you have adequate coverage for any trip taken.

  • Am I contributing to any charity by booking the tour?

    We are proud to support two fantastic charities empowering communities to be more self-sufficient. The Kiva Foundation provides interest free loans to people in remote communities who would like financial assistance for things such as education and improving their homes. Life Project Cambodia has a simple objective – they want to give communities in Cambodia the opportunity to create their own solutions to poverty. The work they do empowers the people in these communities to make the changes they need, rather than having to rely on others to do that for them promoting self-sufficiency.

  • Will I need vaccinations?

    We recommend making an appointment with your GP to discuss which vaccinations may be required for your trip. There are no mandatory vaccinations for of our tours as the destinations we travel to are considered low risk. You should generally consult with your GP 4-6 weeks prior to your travels. Deciding whether to get vaccinated before you travel is a personal choice.

  • Who will be my group leader?

    Our Group Leaders are responsible for making sure your experience travelling is the best it can possibly be! All 'Ultimate' branded tours are led by Group Leaders selected by Ultimate Travel. All 'Adventure', 'Experience' 'Camp' and 'Course' tours are led by our partner operators on the ground in the tours location.
