The terrain mainly flat or gently undulating, with days 3, 4 and 7 involving some steeper ascents and descents. You will ride mainly on cycle paths, on minor agricultural tarred roads or on small secondary roads without much traffic. The accent is on keeping a relaxed pace to take in all of the attractions, with time to stop and take photos. You will need a good level of fitness to participate fully in this adventure. It is considered suitable for fit beginners and children aged 12 and over who are used to pedalling on hills and over time. If you are not used to cycling then we recommend that you include as much cycling on roads in your pre-trip training. This is to get used to cars passing you at times and will be invaluable practise for when you are entering and leaving towns and cities when on the trip.

Quite often a twin bed has one or two mattresses on the same bed frame but with two separate duvets. Sometimes there might be two beds positioned together, but they cannot be separated because of constraints of the room.

What a wonderful way to observe and experience the 'picture perfect' French countryside and it's very attractive and interesting villages. The cycle paths and quiet roads allowed for a relaxing, mostly traffic free ride and we particularly enjoyed visiting some of the smaller, less known villages that are off the tourist path. The bikes and maps provided were great, we were warmly welcomed into each hotel, which we found to be consistently comfortable and the meals provided were delightful. Would heartily recommend.

The trip was lovely. We didn’t feel like any day was too hard. Our accommodations each night were more than adequate, very quiet, welcoming and with an amazing spread for breakfast. We were able to find our way with a combination of the downloaded gpx files and watching for the orange arrows on the routes. The bicycles seemed to be brand new and worked great for us. Seeing 12th century churches and vineyards and rolling hills…priceless!

An excellent trip through interesting countryside and pleasant villages. Trip notes generally easy to follow, although you need to be alert and use a combination of GPS and the Orange arrows. Accommodation was satisfactory and well located.

Everything was well organized, we enjoyed all the riding, the towns were so beautiful. The luggage was always picked up and dropped off on time. It was VERY hot, so we were very glad to have air conditioning in all hotels, except one. Breakfast was amazing every day. Signage was mostly good, a few of the orange arrows were very bleached from the sun and difficult to see, a couple were missing, but overall it was good. The App helped. We were a little sad to be on our own, 3 of us, we were hoping to connect with some other riders, but no one else was registered for that time.

Our bike ride through Alsace region was delightful and fun. Towns from Strasbourg to Colmar were particularly charming. Mulhouse offered us a great visit to their car museum, well worth a visit. Maps and instructions went well, along with our accompanying orange arrow, which was most helpful. Logistics of the trip went well, with no mishaps. Bike setup, with notes visible as you rode along also worked well. A little time spent the evening before studying the maps and notes very useful, backed up with mobile with satellite maps.
